Important Security Reminder: Avoid Using Your Optos Email Address for Third-Party Signups
We would like to remind you of the potential security risks associated with using your Optos email address when signing up for third-party SaaS applications or websites that require account creation.
While using your Optos email may seem convenient, doing so increases the risk of:
1. Data Breaches: Many websites and SaaS platforms may not have the same level of security as our internal systems. If a breach occurs on a third-party service where you’ve used your Optos email, it could expose your corporate credentials or sensitive information.
2. Phishing Attacks: Cybercriminals often target company email addresses to send phishing emails that appear legitimate. By using your Optos email for third-party services, you may inadvertently increase your exposure to phishing campaigns, putting both your personal and corporate data at risk.
3. Credential Stuffing: If you use the same password across multiple platforms, attackers could exploit compromised third-party credentials to gain access to your Optos account. This is a common method used in cyberattacks called credential stuffing.
To minimise these risks, we recommend:
• Using Personal Emails: For any non-work-related service, use a personal email address instead of your Optos email.
• Unique Passwords: Always use strong, unique passwords for each account and avoid reusing your Optos email credentials elsewhere.
• Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Enable 2FA wherever possible to add an additional layer of security to your accounts.
If you suspect that your Optos email has been compromised or used improperly, please contact IT Assist immediately.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. Together, we can help maintain a secure work environment.
