Security Notification - IT Support Impersonation
We want to bring to your attention an increasing security threat involving a group known as the Luna Moth extortion hackers.
These cybercriminals have increased their level of attacks and have recently breached a number of legal and financial related firms across the US and Europe.
Their attacks involve impersonating IT support through email, fake websites, and phone calls. They rely primarily on social engineering and deception to trick employees into divulging sensitive information.
To ensure your safety, and the security of Optos, please ensure you follow the guidelines below at all times:
Verify the source
Always verify the identity of the person contacting you. If you receive a call, email, or message claiming to be from our IT Assist Service Desk which you are uncertain about or are not expecting, please verify by contacting IT Assist via the IT Assist support portal, including any details you may have on the contact you received.
Do not install remote access software
We have existing secure access software on your device therefore you should never follow any request to download and install remote access software from us or any other 3rd party.
Protect your personal information
Never share your passwords, personal information, or any sensitive data over email or phone. Our IT Assist Service Desk (or any other 3rd party suppliers) should never ask for your password or confidential information.
Be cautious with links and attachments
Do not click on links or open attachments from unsolicited emails or messages. These could be phishing attempts designed to steal your information or install malware on your device.
Report Suspicious Activity
If you encounter any suspicious emails, calls, or messages, report them immediately to IT Assist.
