Cyber Security Awareness Month - Part Three: Remote Work & Device Security
As Optos continues to embrace flexible work arrangements, it’s important to stay vigilant about security, especially when working remotely or in public spaces. Protecting our data and devices is a shared responsibility. Please review these essential best practices to help keep yourself and our organisation secure:

Secure Your Home Network: If your router was provided by your ISP, reach out to them to be sure the best security protocol is being used.

Public Wi-Fi usage has many hidden threats; If you must use public Wi-Fi, verify the VPN has connected before doing anything else.
You can check your VPN connection by clicking on the globe icon in your taskbar.

If you find yourself working in public areas, IT Assist can provide privacy screens for your laptop to prevent “shoulder surfing.”

Never leave your laptop, phone, or other devices unattended, even for a moment. Remember, vehicles are not safe storage spaces for company devices.

Always lock your device when stepping away, even at home.

Regularly check your OneDrive is syncing. This will ensure access to data in case of device replacement.
We understand some circumstances may be unavoidable. If you suspect your device is lost, stolen, or compromised - or if you notice any suspicious activity - contact IT Assist immediately. Time is of the essence!
By following these guidelines, you help protect yourself, your colleagues, and Optos from potential cyber threats. Thank you for making security a priority!
